Fake Agency. Real Story.
This is Marc, the real person behind Fictional Agency.
I’m a copywriter, content creator, and creative leader who has played a variety of roles for agency and in-house marketing teams. I’m straightforward, nimble and have worked across just about every category and demographic.
My career story truly starts to get interesting on Christmas Eve 2010 in Chicago. I spent the evening chatting with the only other Jewish guy at a friend’s Christmas dinner. Up to this point in my career, I’d had the good fortune to create print, broadcast and integrated campaigns with a few different agencies and many unique clients. I had worked with awesome people, fun people and a few other, uh, people. I had many proud moments and pats on the back, and also experienced my share of late nights, rejections, and revising version 2, version 3, version 4, you get the picture.
My Christmas buddy was running a small, VC-backed startup in the then-hot daily deal space, and I was ready for something different. And four weeks later, I walked into my first day at Local Offer Network. This was not only a step forward in my career, it was a leap onto an entirely different path.
This experience propelled me into the ever-evolving world of technology, and the opportunity to put my stamp on a lot of copy decisions. The world of daily deals belly-flopped, but I parlayed this experience into an ACD role at Digitas creating social media activations and engagement for Sprint and MillerCoors.
I left the frozen tundra of Chicago and moved to Seattle to become the Head Copywriter for Amazon Prime. This basically meant I had to figure out compelling ways to explain new membership benefits and fit it into an evolving and high-profile chunk of business while working across the entire behemoth to ensure consistency. No pressure, right? I spent a few years living the Seattle tech boom dream; agency-side work with a number of Microsoft’s B2B arms and in-house managing creative at a Big Data startup.
Now I live in Long Beach, CA. But in 2021, geography barely matters. I work onsite, work remotely, and I’ll never need to ask you to resend the link to a video chat. I use your team’s project management software, I use mine. Whatever it takes to help make your business successful. I’m excited to solve the unique concerns of your agency or company, and do it your way. I’m ready to soar, are you ready to come along for the ride?
